in the beginning

In the beginning... was the cut.

Just then man became... man,
"Not a problem, I'll just put on a band-aid."

Soon after the beginning... was a faulty band-aid.

Just then man became...  more men I think,
"Not a problem, We'll just put a band-aid on the band-aid."

                        hum...

Much later after the beginning...
(which brings us up to date)
We have billions of, countless of, band-aids on band-aids.

You know... if you could, dig down.. down all the way through
all the band-aids... to the first band-aid. You could remove it.
And there, under that first band-aid, you would find the same cut.
The cut that was in the beginning.
course now... it's gonna need a new band-aid.

“Homage to Mapplethorpe”

oil on canvas

By love, Heart was ask,
“What is beauty?”
“Beauty is thy self”, Heart replied.
Then Heart held all the beauty of
love in the world... from within.

Let love be the question....
Rejoice! Love abounds!
Oh my soul!

Jasper Johns - "The Critic Smiles" 1969

My love of Jasper Johns is this...
his work is always more than the sum of it’s parts.

"The Critic Smiles", is a novel in a novel… and again.
We write, we fight and kill, we squander, aspire, rapture and walk the inferno to explain, express, define… love. (more than the sum of it’s parts) And yet, and in all, we have failed. All the art in the world does not define love. So, how is it that we always know when we are in love? In a truth, we always do. I can not tell you or define for you, a master’s work… but I know when I see or feel or touch or hear one.
"The Critic Smiles", always makes me smile for the master… artist Jasper Johns.

all the best,
